Hi,
Some guy uploaded The Maze of Galious remake to the Debian FTP: http://ftp-master.debian.org/new.html
See also http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=301527
Quite cool! Soon, many people will be able to apt-get mazeofgalious! :)

Yes, actually it was 5-6 months ago. The guy who "debinaized" the game is called Gürkan Sengün, and e-mailed me asking for permission to do it some time ago... I think that he also debianized transball and nether earth.

Yes, but MoG will be the first MSX game remake in Debian :)
He didn't upload it to Debian until a few days ago, that's why I'm reporting it. I hope it will be in the distro soon.
SuperTransball 2 is indeed already available (as I also put in these forums some time ago. Nether Earth isn't yet.

Weren't there some sort of copyright issues with a submitted remake to Debian? I can recall something like that in the past.

I don't know. Just hope that no konami senior member uses Debian and sees the package in dselect!

dselect? Who uses that!??
Anyway, all directly copied things are removed, so the original graphics and musics (etc) are removed.
The Debian Developer who uploaded it thinks that that is enough.

Well, it's in now. And people are already discussing legal matters...
Here's what I wrote to MRC:
The news is that Gürkan Sengün, a Debian developer, uploaded the remake of The Maze of Galious <http://www.braingames.getput.com/mog/>, mainly written by Santi Ontañón to the Debian archive <http://packages.debian.org/unstable/games/mazeofgalious>.
There has been some discussion <http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=301527> about whether this is legal. Gürkan did remove the original graphics and sound of course, but still people doubt if there is no infringement <http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=341228> on copyrights.

I've been reading the discussions, and I don't know what to say. I hope that MoG remains in Debian... Let's see what happens.
