1st of all, congratulations on the work. I've been a fan of Nether Earth since I was a kid. I still play it on a z80 emulator, from time to time.

Problems encountered:

1. the "up" and "right" arrow keys are reversed in your game (i.e. in the original I advance w the right arrow, in your version I advance with the up arrow.

2. In the original game, the robot "remembers" the last command key (if I push one arrow, the robot will advance in that direction untill it meets an obstacle). In your version, if I release the button, the robot will stop (dumb robot! :)).

3. In the original game, in the build robot menu, the default active command is bipod, I am directly in the robot parts list, in your version, the default command is exit, so I have to press right twice before entering the list of robot parts.

4. The game crashes under MS Win 2000 Pro (maybe it's my computer, I don't know). I will test it under MS Win Me and 98 SE with my friends and if I will encounter similar problems I'll let you know.

In the end, again, congrats for this idea, of remaking this classical piece!

OK, I installed the patch and it works just fine under Win 2k.

The game speed seems to be a lot higher than in the original game, in easy I conquered all alien bases with only one robot, in 7 days! In the original game usually the 7th day finds me around de 2nd alien base.

The fire rate seems not to be correlated with the speed of the robots. In the original game, if I wait the enemy "at the corner" I can shoot twice for every tile movement and usually I can destroy an enemy robot before he can turn around and shoot.

There also seems to be a too small difference between the movement speed of a Bipod robot and a Hover Robot.

I guess that after all, a Z80 is somehow different of a P4

Hi Adrian,

thanks for all your comments. They will be taken into account when I make a new version of Nether Earth. However, I'm currently busy with 2 projects: MoG2 and RoadFighter, and may be until the end of the summer I won't make any improvement to Nether Earth.

About the speed of the bullets. May be you are right, I made no study on the speed of the bullets on the original game, and just set a value that I liked for it.

cheers
